The critics
The Independent on Sunday has joined forces with Channel 4 to give away a fabulous trip for two to see Simon Rattle
perform in Vienna.
Channel 4's acclaimed Leaving Home, presented by Simon Rattle, is the most ambitious series ever
commissioned on 20th-century
orchestral music. Tonight at 9pm, you can see the third episode, when he will show how conventional musical forms were
abandoned in favour of the
sensual qualities of instrumental tone and colour.

City of Birmingham Symphony
Orchestra (CBSO) perform live in concert in Vienna as part of
"Towards the Millennium - The '60s". The performance at the Konzerthaus on 19 March 1997
features Benjamin Britten's "War Requiem".
You will fly with the City of
Birmingham Symphony Chorus from Birmingham International Airport, staying for two nights with bed and breakfast accommodation at the Vienna Plaza, Hilton
International's designer hotel (home to over 100 pieces of art), situated in the city centre.
Three runners-up will receive a pair of top price tickets to see Sir Simon Rattle conduct the CBSO
in Birmingham's magnificent
Symphony Hall on 27 February 1997, in a performance of Henze's "The Raft of Medusa". A further 10 runners-up, will receive a set
of two Leaving Home CDs, from EMI, and a copy of Michael
Hall's Leaving Home, the book to
accompany the series from Faber & Faber.
