2 Bristol & West savers and borrrowers will get their windfalls in August or September, and those with Northern Rock in October, it was announced last week. Details of both payout proposals will go out separately in March to be voted on in April. Northern Rock will be the last to pay out of the five societies that have already announced they are demutualising this year. Alliance & Leicester should be paying out in April or May, the Halifax in June, and Woolwich in July.

2 British Airways has launched a credit card with NatWest that earns air miles for users. The card is being marketed to BA's 600,000 Executive Club members. You get 100 air miles if you take out a card before 15 April, and one air mile for every pounds 15 spent on the card thereafter. The card has an annual fee of pounds 12 and an interest rate of 18.9 per cent (20.7 per cent for cash advances).

2 Accident Line is a free legal consultation service provided by the Law Society aimed at, for example, people looking to get compensation from their employer after a workplace accident or to challenge their local authority having tripped up on a faulty pavement. Callers to the Accident Line free number are referred to a solicitor who specialises in personal injury cases and who will give a free half-hour consultation. 0500 192939.
