Until June 1994 Northern Rock is offering a 3.01 per cent discount off its 7.99 per cent variable rate on 75 per cent advances. Borrowers must pay a pounds 95 fee and take out buildings and contents insurance through the society.

National & Provincial is offering a range of discounts from its variable rate - currently 7.99 per cent - until 1 September 1994. Current rates are 6.99 per cent on 95 per cent advances, 6.49 per cent on 85 per cent advances, 6.24 per cent on 75 per cent advances and 5.95 per cent on 60 per cent advances.
