JOHN Charcol obtained funding for five-year fixed loans at 6.99 per cent from a top-10 building society before rates climbed. The mortgage has no compulsory insurances. There is a pounds 295 fee.
The Bank of Scotland has a loan fixed until January 1999 at 7.24 per cent. Its centralised lending arm, Centrebank, also has a loan fixed until January 1997 at 7.64 per cent for those with no deposit. This 100 per cent loan has a pounds 50 application fee. A pounds 200 arrangement fee can be added to the loan.
Centrebank is also running a negative equity scheme for certain professionals, including architects, doctors, dentists, vets and solicitors.
TSB has a 10-year loan at 7.99 per cent for those with a deposit of at least 25 per cent. The fee is also pounds 295.
