TWO building society accounts offer rates linked to bank base rate. Chelsea's Base Rate Plus account guarantees 1.5 per cent above base on the gross rate until April 1994.

The Newcastle's two-year Base Rate Booster pays 1.75 per cent above base rate for the first six months and 0.75 per cent for the remaining 18 months.
