John Moore, outgoing president of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, told its annual general meeting last week that the challenge facing the profession was to find an appropriate regulatory framework. He said that although the model of three geographically-based bodies proposed by the Bishop working party had not been supported, the rationalisation had led to fresh alliances which might lead to greater harmonisation.
Mr Moore's successor is Michael Harvey, professor of accounting at South Bank University and Professor Emeritus at London Guildhall University.
