Most of Britain's 1,000 largest law firms increased profits last year, according to the fourth annual survey of financial management by The Lawyer magazine and Coopers & Lybrand. Nearly half increased profits by more than 10 per cent. The percentage of firms billing pounds 250,000 to pounds 500,000 per partner rose from 29 per cent to 33 per cent.
