Two Britons are being held hostage by Nigerian oil workers in a protest over working conditions. One of the two is Trevor Breslin from Cheshire. A Foreign Office spokesman said he was confident neither was in any danger.
"We are not aware of any harm being inflicted on them and we are in touch with their families," he said.
He added that an American and an Australian were also being held but one has now been released. All four are employees of the production company Consolidated Oil Nigeria. The Nigerians work for the American company Western Geophysical, which is handling survey work for Consolidated Oil.
