A WELDER at ABB Power Generation, part of the Asea Brown Boveri group, working on the rotor of its latest gas turbine, which it claims will be the most efficient in the world. The Swedish-Swiss group says the energy efficiency of the new 165 megawatt GT24 turbine, will be 58 per cent. The principle is two-stage combustion, burning the fuel twice.
