Outlook Talking of the Olympics, G4S's chief executive, Nick Buckles, must be glad to see the back of 2012. Despite having failed to provide enough security for the Games – not to mention that an 82-year-old nun infiltrated a US nuclear facility that a G4S subsidiary was guarding last summer – its figures yesterday were strong.
Those numbers show why investors backed Mr Buckles even though the public thought he should go.
Profit, then, is king – but it shouldn't be.
