EC calls for revision to telecom alliance

The terms of a controversial alliance, to be called Atlas, between France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom, are to be revised at the request of the European Commission. A letter, addressed to Karl Van Miert, the Competition Commissioner, will outline changes to the Atlas proposal that the companies say constitute a major step toward meeting the EC's concerns.
