Sales of UK machine tools climbed 12.5 per cent in the second quarter compared with the previous quarter, due mainly to a 23.2 per cent jump in exports, the Central Statistical Office said. There was a 7.9 per cent increase in home turnover. Compared with a year ago, total turnover increased by 8 per cent.
