N&P to discuss bids

National & Provincial Building Society will discuss recent bids from half a dozen institutions at its board meeting today, but no decision will be reached for another fortnight, according to City sources. Abbey National has tabled a pounds 1bn bid while Lloyds Bank has also made a tentative approach.
