In an interview published on 6 December Mrs Carmen Briscoe-Mitchell made various references to the libel case she had brought against her daughter, Ms Constance Briscoe, in which the jury had found in Ms Briscoe's favour earlier that week. By publishing those comments we did not mean to suggest that the jury's verdict was anything other than correct or that the allegations about Mrs Briscoe-Mitchell from the book which were aired in court were untrue. We accept that any such suggestion would have been wrong, and apologise unreservedly to Ms Briscoe for the distress caused.
