An article in last Friday's paper suggested that during their divorce David Gest had alleged his then wife, Liza Minelli, had given him herpes. We have been asked to make it clear, which we are happy to do, that Mr Gest did not make such an allegation against Ms Minnelli and that he has never had that disease. We sincerely apologise to Mr Gest for any embarrassment and distress caused.'
