BUS travellers in Southampton will, from July, know how long to expect to wait for their bus. Bus stops will display expected times of arrival, details of delays and current position. Road sensors around the city will pick up signals from the buses, which will be transmitted to display signs at the bus stops. The scheme is part of a comprehensive traffic management project, part financed by the European Commission. Eventually car drivers will benefit from congestion warnings on electronic display boards around the city.
