A woman and four children have been taken ill in a new E.coli 0157 food-poisoning outbreak in Scotland.
Highland Health Board officials confirmed yesterday that the five victims - all from a farming family living near Inverness - had been infected with the deadly food-poisoning bacteria, which has killed 21 people in separate outbreaks in central Scotland and Tayside. Dr Ken Oates, acting public health consultant, said: "The farm involved does not supply any farm produce directly to consumers. Environmental health officers, general practitioners and public health physicians are checking other members of the family."
