Future Hong Kong lawmakers gave their support to plans to dilute civil liberties after the territory reverts to China. Plans put forward by future leader Tung Chee-hwa include requiring police permits for political protests and a ban on foreign funding of political groups. The China-appointed body that will replace the territory's elected legislature on July 1 also passed its first law yesterday.
