wo people died and six were injured yesterday in a collision between an army lorry and a minibus near Andover, Hampshire. Police said two occupants of the minibus, which was carrying staff and residents of Norton Place, a nursing home for adults with learning disabilities at Southend, Essex, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The other six occupants were taken to Salisbury District Hospital where one was said to have major injuries and three to be seriously injured; two had relatively minor injuries. All eight had been wearing seatbelts. Two members of the Territorial Army 35 Signal Regiment based in Sutton Coldfield were in the lorry and had leg injuries.
It took rescue crews two hours to free those trapped in the vehicles. A hospital spokesman said last night that
