A member of a teenage knife gang, found guilty of the near-fatal mugging of the husband of the Director of Public Prosecution Barbara Mills, was warned by a judge yesterday that he "faced many years in jail".
The 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, "viciously" stabbed John Mills, 58, between the ribs with a butterfly knife. The blade partially severed an artery and could have killed him, Knightsbridge Crown Court was told. He was convicted of grievous bodily harm and robbery. The alleged gang ringleader Edwardo de la Cruz, 18, was cleared of both offences.
