Man is charged in bombs inquiry
A MAN was last night charged after two small explosive devices were found near a house in Somerset during a police operation.
The 30-year-old man from Yeovil, Somerset, was due to appear before Taunton Deane magistrates today. Police did not specify the exact nature of the charge.
A 47-year-old man from Crewkerne, Somerset, arrested as part of the same inquiry, was released on police bail until 5 October.
Army bomb disposal experts were called by police to Crewkerne to make one device safe, while another was destroyed by a controlled explosion. The devices were found in a hedge. A police spokesman said there was no danger to the public.
The arrests followed the detentions of two men and a woman, in Farnborough, Hampshire, on Tuesday. The woman was released on bail.
Robert Lloyd, 40, and Lee Critchley, 24, both from Farnborough, were yesterday remanded in custody, charged with possessing explosive material.
