THE DIRECTORS' Guild, which recently denounced standards of television dramas, has drawn up its first code of practice to preserve basic standards of production. The vice-chairman, Derek Lister, says: 'We are trying to pull the balance of power back towards programmes and away from accountants. We also hope to campaign to ensure that the frenzy of ITV takeovers will lead to more money going into programmes.'
