In an article headlined `Sacked union man to appeal' (9 April), we reported Mr Coleman's 1996 earnings from BA and the union as being more than pounds 100,000.

He has asked us to make it clear that his income was actually about pounds 42,000, and that the BA internal inquiry was unable to conclude whether or not he had spat at an official from a smaller union, as had been alleged. We are happy to set the record straight.
