Cara Delevingne: Facebook 'dislike' button will 'trigger wave of bullying'

'Like away but if you have a bad thought about someone keep it to yourself,' says the 23-year-old model

Cara Delevingne has warned the introduction of the “dislike” button to Facebook could prompt a “wave of bullying” on social media.

The 23-year-old model - who has 27.5 million followers on Instagram, 4.9 million on Twitter and 3.6 million on Facebook - said young people would suffer if friends revealed negative reactions to their posts.

The social media giant’s co-founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerburg, has hinted the site is planning on adding a dislike button in addition to its thumbs-up “like” option.

Earlier this week, Facebook introduced six new emoticons – which included sad and angry – which users can select to show their reactions to posts.

In an interview with Sunday Times Style magazine, the London-born model turned actress said: “If you can go around disliking someone's pictures, that is going to set off a whole new wave of bullying.

“These companies are making so much money, they just want the new thing.

“If it's something that is going to cause people harm, I really think we should steer against that.

“'Like' away but if you have a bad thought about someone, keep it to yourself.”

The dislike button is the most requested Facebook feature and users have said they want to see on the site for many years.
