Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond criticised by LGBT charity after using 'fudge-packer' slur

In news that will probably surprise no-one, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond have continued ruffling feathers by making a derogatory gay slur while in Australia.

The former Top Gear hosts tweeted a photo outside a fudge factory, adding the caption: “We have got jobs at last. Here. As packers.”

The two received criticism on Twitter for the ‘fudge-packer’ slur, which was once used as a derogatory term for a gay man.

LGBT charity Stonewall condemned the stunt, saying in a statement “We can’t quite see Clarkson in the confectionery industry, maybe it’s the sour taste that his racist and homophobic slurs leave. All we can see him packing up at the moment is his career.”

Last year Clarkson was forced to delete a tweet in which his co-stars held a sign next to him saying ‘gay c**t’ while he slept.

His apology read ‘I have deleted my last tweet and would like to apologise profusely to anyone who I upset while I was asleep.’

His latest stunt comes after he was fired from Top Gear earlier this year after punching a BBC producer following a row (or ‘fracas’) over a steak.

Clarkson has subsequently been dethroned from Top Gear, replaced by Chris Evans, and is apparently re-launching a motoring show somewhere else.

Hopefully the material is more tasteful than this.
