Miley Cyrus explains why she will never walk a red carpet again
'Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that’s red?' asks the pop star

The red carpet might be a long-established cornerstone of award events and part and parcel of being a Hollywood celebrity but Miley Cyrus has vowed never to set foot on one again.
The 23-year-old pop star said that as long as people were starving, she would be eschewing the crimson floor coverings.
Cyrus questioned why her fame should mean she was forced to partake in award show rituals.
“[A year ago] I had to do the [A Very Murray Christmas] premiere, and I will never do a red carpet again,” Cyrus told Elle magazine.
“Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that’s red? Because I’m 'important'? Because I’m ‘famous'?”
“That’s not how I roll,” Cyrus insisted. “It’s like a skit — it's like Zoolander.”
But red carpets are by no means the only thing Cyrus is avoiding, the singer explained she did not use Snapchat either.
“No. I want to be,” she said. "I don't know how to use it. I feel like I'll be an old lady that's too held back because I don't keep up with it.”
In the interview, Cyrus also applauded Bernie Sanders and said the best way to win her support during her new role on The Voice was to emulate the former Democrat presidential candidate who chose to drop out of the race in July.
“I don't want this to come off the wrong way, but I'm going to tell my contestants: Be Bernie Sanders,” Cyrus said. “Be the person people want and love. Don't worry about the masses. That's how you make a memorable moment. Let people talk about it.”
Cyrus has previously voiced her support for Sanders, commending him for being a "badass in supporting the LGBT community”.
