Responding to reports that the BBC economics editor Robert Peston is departing for ITV, Piers Morgan felt the need to come to his new colleague’s defence. Noting the spoof campaign by corporation colleagues to keep Peston at Broadcasting House, Morgan insisted on Twitter: “The more BBC stars queue up to brief against Robert Peston, the more obvious it is a) how good he is and b) what a coup ITV have pulled off.”
