Trident costs

THE LATEST estimate of the cost of the Trident nuclear programme is pounds 9.78bn, the Defence Secretary, George Robertson, revealed. Three Vanguard class submarines carry the weapons and a fourth, HMS Vengeance, is due to enter service in 2001.
