The future of rail privatisation will be decided in the High Court today when a judge rules on a case brought by the anti-privatisation group Save Our Railways.
It claims that the franchising director, Roger Salmon, was wrong to have set minimum service levels for new operators well below the present timetable. If the case is successful next week's announcement of the successful bidders for the first seven franchises will have to be postponed
