Nasa successfully launched the Orion capsule into space today after yesterday's launch was postponed because of high winds and a rogue boat.

Orion launched on a Delta IV rocket, the largest rocket in America's current inventory.

The craft launched at 7:05 a.m. EST (12:05 GMT). There was concern that a weather front approaching the Florida Launchpad would cause the mission to be called off again.

Like yesterday, Nasa had a 2-hour, 39-minute window in which to launch the test.

The craft will fly 3,600 miles into space before heading back, about four hours after launch, crashing into the Pacific Ocean.
