House of Commons security was stepped up last week as MPs were recalled to debate the Northern Ireland terrorism bill. Bomb detection officers were seen scouring the building to guard against retaliation from Islamic fundamentalists targeting Britain following the US bombing raids last month in Sudan and Afghanistan.
