Sporting Lisbon have suspended their club captain, Oceano Cruz, after he accused his chairman, Pedro Santana Lopes, of "posturing" in a newspaper interview.

The 33-year-old Portuguese international midfielder also had harsh words for the Sporting coach, Carlos Queiroz.

The interview was published last Friday, the day before second-placed Sporting lost 2-0 at home to the leaders, Bobby Robson's Porto. Cruz was substituted in the match, which left Sporting eight points adrift.
