John Cairncross, the infamous "Fifth Man" in the Cambridge spy ring with Sir Anthony Blunt, Kim Philby, Guy Burgess and Donald Maclean, has returned to Britain after 40 years' exile. The former Whitehall mandarin, 82, is living in the West Country working on his memoirs, which are said to be "explosive".
