THE Independent on Sunday has been voted the National Sunday Newspaper of the Year in the first Media Yearbook awards. The award, which was determined by a panel of 36 editors drawn from broadcasting, the regional press and magazine publishing, singled out this newspaper's 'stylish prose'. In the words of one judge: 'It manages to distil the important issues and deliver them with skill and wit.'

Last month sales of the Independent on Sunday averaged 388,000, a rise of 3,000 over March last year. The average sale over the past six months is 403,000.
