Threat to ships

Shipping safety is under threat from corrosion-causing bacteria. Tankers, tugs and ferries face contamination from micro-organisms which are increasing partly due to low cleanliness levels on board under-manned ships, Richard Stuart, an engineer surveyor with Lloyd's Register of Shipping, said.
