Heat and sun set to continue throughout July but August could see a return to more typical British weather

Weather forecasters have said Britons can anticipate more hot weather as soaring temperatures continue throughout July.

Sunday will see the mercury hit 30C and strong sunshine can be expected all afternoon. Saturday was the hottest day of 2013 and forecasters have predicted temperatures will remain above average across the country for the rest of the month.

However, August could see balmy conditions be replaced by weather slightly more typical of a British summer.

A Met Office spokesperson said that early indications for the first week of August show that high pressure could move away meaning occasional spells of rain and slightly cooler temperatures.

The south and south east of the country should still continue to see mostly fine, dry weather.

Conditions during the last week of July are expected to remain pleasant, but the North of England is more likely to be affected by cloud and outbreaks of rain within the next 30 days.
