POLICE and military authorities were yesterday investigating the death of a Territorial Army soldier who was shot in the head in front of friends and colleagues.
Private Peter Waldron, 29, of the 5/8th volunteer battalion of the King's Regiment, was in a room at the Score Lane Territorial Army centre in Liverpool, when the fatal shot was fired on Saturday. He was with three other reservists, of different ranks but all friends.
Detectives are working on the theory that Pte Waldron, who was single and lived with his parents in Dovecot, Liverpool, was the victim of an accident.
Police, who confirmed that he did not discharge the gun himself, were interviewing the other soldiers.
