Man charged with murders

A20-year-old Galway man, Brendan Patrick O'Donnell, was charged yesterday with the murders of Imelda Riney, an artist, her son, Liam, three, and a Galway priest, Father Joe Walsh.

He was also charged at Loughrea District Court, Co Galway, with rape, false imprisonment and possession of a rifle and ammunition. Mr O'Donnell, who denied the charges, was remanded in custody. He already faces a variety of other charges.
