A man bled to death after severing the main artery in his left thigh while cutting firewood with a chainsaw on Boxing Day. George Ankers, 36, of Waddingham, Lincolnshire, died before an emergency doctor reached his farmhouse 10 minutes after being called by his wife, who tried to treat him.
