A police officer serving with the South West Regional Crime Squad who was involved in a head-on crash in July in which two men riding a stolen police motorcycle were killed will face two charges of manslaughter, writes Michael Prestage.
After an investigation by the Police Complaints Authority into the incident at Hartcliffe, Bristol, Avon and Somerset Police said last night that Detective Constable Robert Wallington, 35, would be prosecuted. A second officer, Detective Constable Anthony Knight, faces charges of dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention.
The deaths of Shaun Starr, 32, and Keith Buck, 18, sparked three days of civil disturbance on the large council estate.
