When Sky's the limit

Sky's Kay Burley fell victim to cerebral hecklers as she tried to conduct an interview on College Green, Westminster. Passing protesters from the electoral reform rally outside Lib Dem HQ drowned her out with shouts of "Sack Kay Burley! Watch the BBC!" and "Sky News is shit!" She muttered: "They don't like us, they don't like 'The Sun', they don't like Rupert."

A question of needs

John Prescott calls for people to phone Liberal Democrat HQ to ask them to stop a "Libservative" coalition, helpfully providing the switchboard number. This from the man who once said to Paddy Ashdown: "You're a fucking Liberal. We've got a majority of 160 – what do we want you for?"

Rabbit in the headlights

1975. Heatherdown Preparatory School, then one of the great feeder schools to Eton. School play: Toad of Toad Hall. Mole: Prince Edward, 11; Ratty: Alexander Cameron, now a London QC. And dressed in tights and bunny ears to play the lesser role of Harold Rabbit? His younger brother David.

1. No votes – 2. Dead loss

Mystery solved. David Barnes, an independent candidate in Hertford & Stortford, managed to poll zero votes – prompting the slightly baffling conclusion that, after considering the options, he decided not to vote for himself. Turns out, though, that he dropped out of the contest but the ballot papers had already been printed. Also failing to materialise: the threatened local "zombie party" challenge, who were concerned with the state of cemeteries.
