Students on a unique course to learn building preservation techniques - being run by English Heritage at Fort Brockhurst, a 19th-century fort near Portsmouth, Hampshire - practise on one of two 'ruinettes' made from distressed stone. The four-day tutorial, which costs pounds 250, has attracted inquiries worldwide.
