Second man is killed while trying to prevent burglary
A FATHER-of-four has become the second man to be killed in 48 hours after confronting burglars while protecting other people's homes during the Bank holiday weekend, writes Graham Moorby.
Malcolm Albrighton, 48, was punched to the ground by a fleeing burglar in Atherstone, Warwickshire, and died in hospital last night, 28 hours after the attack. The former soldier had been walking home with an elderly friend from a local pub when they heard a burglar alarm ring. Mr Albrighton chased and caught one of the men who turned and punched him hard in the face. Mr Albrighton was knocked unconscious and taken to hospital with a fractured skull.
On Saturday, Leslie Winder, 52, was stabbed to death by a burglar as he checked his daughter's home in Barmston, Washington, Tyne and wear, while she was on holiday.
An anonymous local businessman has anonymously put up a pounds 5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of his killer.
