Two security guards at the Old Bailey have been suspended and interviewed by police after a spate of thefts in the building.
The two were initially questioned about the theft of a lap top computer, but police inquiries have now widened to include a number of internal thefts.
A City of London police spokesman confirmed that the men had been bailed to report to Snow Hill police station later this month.
The Old Bailey, which hears terrorist and other main trials, frequently has custody of drugs, cash, guns and other high-value items required as exhibits in cases.
Recently money and drugs disappeared from the exhibits room during a long-running drug smuggling case. A secret internal inquiry failed to discover what happened to the items.
