THE England rugby team bounced back from their defeat against Wales to beat Scotland 26-12 in the Calcutta Cup at Twickenham and keep alive their hopes of winning the Five Nations' Championship. Brothers Rory and Tony Underwood each scored a try. In the other match, Wales lost at home to Ireland 19-14.

In the FA Cup Arsenal won

4-2 at Ipswich, while Blackburn and Sheffield United drew 0-0.
