Two men have been arrested after a photo of them kissing was posted on Facebook.

The 22-year-old student and 24-year-old office worker from Indonesia were arrested after uploading the picture which was captioned: “With my dear lover tonight. May our love last forever”.

Homosexuality is not illegal in Indonesia but the two men are expected to be charged for breaking anti-pornography laws.

"The couple admitted it's them in the picture and they posted the picture to prove their love," local police spokesman Marzuki told AFP.

The identities of the two men have not been disclosed and although they are currently not in police custody they could be jailed if they are found guilty.

The news comes after the youth and sports ministry stopped members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community applying for a job.

An online advertisement for a youth ambassador position said candidates must “not be involved in casual sex or deviant acts, including LGBT”. This would have to be proven with a doctor’s certificate.

After public outcry this was dropped from the job advert.
