PEKING (AP) - Wang Dan, a student leader in the 1989 Tiananmen Square demonstrations, was released unconditionally after 12 hours in detention.
Mr Wang was arrested just hours before the arrival on Saturday of the US Commerce Secretary, Ron Brown. Mr Brown is the first cabinet official to visit Peking since President Bill Clinton decided in May not to link China's performance on human rights with its trade status.
