Lagos (Reuter) - Rescuers struggling through swamps have plucked 180 bodies from the wreckage of a crashed Nigerian air force plane, military sources said yesterday.
They said more bodies could be dragged out of the partly submerged C-130 Hercules transport, which came down near Lagos on Saturday, three minutes after take-off. 'About 150 were military officers . . . There were also some schoolchildren,' one source said.
If the figure is confirmed, it would be Nigeria's worst air disaster since independence from Britain in 1960.
