PORTLAND, Oregon (Reuter) - The FBI said it was investigating allegations of a conspiracy to attack the US ice skater Nancy Kerrigan, but refused to confirm reports that Jeff Gillooly and Shawn Eric Eckardt, the husband and bodyguard of a rival, Tonya Harding, had been questioned.
Kerrigan was struck on the knee with a crowbar last Thursday in Detroit, and had to withdraw from the national championships, which she had been the favourite to win. There were also fears that she would not be able to compete in the Winter Olympics.
