Talks between China and Britain on planned democratic reforms for Hong Kong are slowly making progress but more work needs to be done, the British ambassador, Sir Robin McLaren, said yesterday, Reuter reports from Peking. He did not elaborate on his statement, which was a rare departure from his usual refusal to describe the negotiations. The talks are now in their sixth round, which is due to end today.
